Why does my cat bother me in the morning and try to wake me up?
** StAr_BaBy ** asked:
In the morning my bf usually feeds the cats but my black cat will do whatever he can to wake me up. Like play with the vertical blinds on the window, jump on the bed and step on me, or try to make lots of noises. Also he is always by the bed starring at me it is freaky.

Why do cats do any of the annoying/crazy/weird things they do? That’s part of the joy of being a cat parent
She does it because she can.

mine does it right before my alarm goes off because he knows its time for me to get up
but sometimes he needs food or water
or he hears you rolling around and he thinks your up, so he wants to be pet.

Domestic cats through instinct are pride animals, living within a family unit. We separate them from their siblings at a very early stage in their development and so we, as their owners then become part of their pride. generally, cats are of the opinion that humans are not capable of hunting for food so the cat waking you in the morning is telling you that there is food available to eat, he’s looking out for you the only way he knows how.

He either wants attention or the food/water bowl is empty. My advice - close the door!

Have you considered the possibility that your cat actually likes you and wants to interact?

He wants you to get up and give him attention. It is like having an annoying child. My cat gets up with my husband and then after he leaves for work the damn cat sits downstairs and meows his head off till I wake up and yell for him to get his furry **** upstairs. The he comes tearing up the steps and jumps on the bed and attacks my feet. He is my little ***** baby.

Mine does the same thing. He wakes me up every morning between 4:00 and 4:15 am. I talking within that exact 15 minute window EVERY morning. When I get jumped on, I literally know what time it is. Then he sits on my chest and just stares down at me, so I know what you’re talking about. It’s hilarious but annoying at the same time. And like yours, he plays with the blinds. I have six windows in my room so I get up and pull them up just enough to keep them out of reach and then I can usually fall back asleep. He then sleeps until about 7:00am when he’s hungry. Cats are nocturnal like owls. They sleep all day, and they are active at nght. Play with your cat for 15 minutes before you go to bed and he will probably sleep later. It sounds like he really likes you though.
