How should I put up wood blinds on a big living room window?
liane N asked:
Okay so my living room window is 117″ width 59″ height. It is one large window but separated by framing. So there is a window that opens on each side which is 23″ and then in the center of the large frame is a 60″ window that does not open.
They don’t seem to make one large blind that goes across the entire window 117″ so how should i arrange the blinds? Also each of the side windows have the window that opens so you can’t do inside mounts because there is no frame inside to attach to. Can I attach brackets on the ceiling of an inside mount without screwing into the side of the wall too? All very confusing I know but any help would be appreciated!!

i guess if that’s the only way your going to be able to hang them then ***** the brackets were ever you need them to be mounted good luck in your adventure.

Be glad you didn’t find one big blind. They are very heavy and hard to pull up and down. You would be better off with one in the middle and one on each side that operate independently. You will probably have to buy brackets that stick out, they can normally be mounted on the wall because normally there is wood framing inside the walls around windows. You can go to Smith and Noble for ideas… on line too. But I would buy them elsewhere because they are notoriously expensive there.
You may want to consider a wood imitation, it is better because it doesn’t warp, or blister if it happens to get wet, and they are lighter– by far.

Vertical blinds are made that size. You put up an bar on top and need about 3 packs of blinds you buy separate to hang. At Lowes or Home Depot. You may mount on ceiling for some types….(Roman bamboo ) shades would hang good from ceiling. A few J hooks come with them and instructions.
