My partner and I had a custom drapery workroom in Louisiana and we paid our installers well. Anyone can hang a rod, but only professionals do the job right. You should be looking at the $20-40 an hour range.

The $20-$40.00 per hour sounds about right. Here on Long Island I paid someone about $40.00 an hour for installing. I don’t use him anymore because he was too slow (on purpose to drag it out?) and took a couple of cigarette breaks (on a 2 hour job), which the client commented on.

Although some installers charge per foot (i.e. $6.00 per foot).

Yes, it is best to pay someone by the foot for draperies and top treatments, around $5 sounds right. Blinds by the piece, usually about $8-10 each.

btw…I am an installer
